October 7 - 11, 2010   Tenth Year Anniversary for Trailfest

H-M Trails is now hiring part-time employees for assisting with Trailfest 2010.  If you know anyone interested in working, please have them call the trail authority at 304-752-3255.  The positions are for approximately a two-week period in setting up and breaking down for the event.  Drug testing is required for employment.

PARADE

The tenth annual Hatfield-McCoy Trailfest parade will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010.  Line-up will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the LHJCC and the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.  Local residents are encouraged to participate.  Helmets must be worn by each and every participant.   For more information, please contact Town Hall at 304-664-9625.

FIREWORKS

The Town of Gilbert, Gilbert Convention and Visitors Bureau, LJHCC, and Hatfield-McCoy Trails will host a $5,000. fireworks display on Saturday night, October 9, 2010 at the LJHCC gazebo area.  The show time will be announced at a later date.  The public is invited to attend and light sabers will be handed out free to the children while supplies last.

SUNDAY IS FREE PARTICIPATION

TO LOCAL RESIDENTS

Hatfield-McCoy Trails is inviting the area citizens to participate in Trailfest activities free of charge on Sunday, October 10, 2010.  If you want to play in the mud pit, run the drag strip, or visit the vendors, you can do so at no charge on Sunday.  All H-M rules apply if riding on the streets.  Please make yourself familiar with the rules at  http://www.trailsheaven.com/about/hatfield-mccoy_trail_rules.aspxlmets. 

The Town of Gilbert requires helmets to be worn at all times, trail permits are required to be on the trails and/or streets, speed limit is 25 mph for trail riders on town streets and an adult must accompany any rider under the age of 18 (this means an adult must be riding an ATV or dirt bike in front of or behind the under age 18 rider).  Riders must have a valid drivers license unless they are under age 18 and riding with the supervision of an adult.  Riders must be off the streets and trails by dark unless town resolutions are passed for special events.  During Trailfest 2010, riders will be allowed on the streets until midnight on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 7 - 10, 2010.  Ride safely and have fun!  If you feel like popping a wheelie or going a little wild, do it on the trails and NOT on the streets.  Police will be enforcing the rules.

The band Blackwater Outlaws will perform at the LJHCC gazebo.  Local talent will perform nightly during the event and before the main event on Saturday night.

SPECTATOR FEES

$5.00 per night entry fee to watch activities.

$20.00 per night and sign a release form to participate in the events.

LJHCC ARTS & CRAFTS

The fall Arts & Crafts show will be held in conjunction with Trailfest.  Visit the gymnasium for an array of crafts, candy, jewelry and other items.

STREET FAIR

The Town of Gilbert is asking all interested parties to participate in a Street Fair during Trailfest.  Local businesses are asked to display their inventory outside their stores and churches, sports groups, garden clubs, and others are invited to set up in front of Town Hall or other places in Town.  Please call Town Hall at 304-664-9625 to register for a spot.

VOLUNTEERS

Please call Town Hall if you are available to assist during Trailfest.  Volunteers are needed for all aspects during the event and will be greatly appreciated.
